Position Title: Outside Sales Representative/Account Manager

Reports to: Sales Manager

Position Summary

The Outside Sales Representative/Account Manager is responsible for the sales and rental of light and heavy construction equipment within a defined geographic territory.  Outside Sales representatives are on the road every day, meeting with valued customers, visiting job sites and building relationships with key stakeholders.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Develops a database of qualified leads through referrals, telephone canvassing, face-to-face cold calling on business owners, and networking throughout the community.
  • Responsible for sourcing and developing client relationships and follow-up on referrals.
  • Regularly meet sales quotas and make conscious efforts to exceed sales quotas.
  • Works with the Credit Department to establish new accounts; assists customer in preparing and processing credit/financing arrangement paperwork.
  • Maximize all opportunities in the process of closing a sale and/or rental.
  • Consults and makes recommendations to prospects and clients on various sales and rental equipment, products and services.
  • Creates and conducts effective proposal presentations.
  • Demonstrates the ability to gather complete data to allow for efficient processing of a sale and/or rental of equipment.
  • Maintains contact with all clients, in the assigned area of responsibility, to ensure high levels of client satisfaction.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to manage accounts and/or territory.
  • Ability to perform duties with a sense of urgency, exceeding customer expectations.
  • Proven success in prospecting and developing a territory.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate with customers, management, and other co-workers, both individually and in front of a group.

Education and Experience

  • College degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in field sales or a sales internship.
  • Previous construction equipment sales and rentals experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Physical Requirements

  • Regular use of the telephone and e-mail for communication is essential.
  • Sitting, standing, walking, driving, and talking for extended periods is common.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Position Title:    Field Technician – Portland, ME                                                   

Reports to:  Service Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

The Field Technician will perform maintenance and repair of complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on a variety of rental and customer heavy equipment while located on the jobsite. The Field Technician will also assist in repairs and maintenance at the store and at job sites when needed. The mechanic will be responsible for service documentation, training of other technicians and demonstration of heavy equipment for customer use.  The Field Technician will communicate with vendors and other technicians to properly diagnose and repair the equipment.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Completes repairs and preventative maintenance functions on-site and in the field.
  • Trains technicians on repairs, maintenance, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and diesel systems.
  • Provides demonstration and instruction on heavy equipment use to customers and instructs customer on safe operation of equipment.
  • Interacts with customers and vendors to property diagnose and repair heavy equipment.
  • Completes work orders and documents maintenance history with detail and accuracy in a timely manner.
  • Communicates with Service Manager regarding equipment damage and/or other work hazards, accidents or injuries.
  • Orders parts as necessary to complete repairs and maintenance of equipment.
  • Conducts heavy equipment functionality, use, and safety tests.
  • Completes daily work orders and documents maintenance history records.
  • Complete preventative maintenance repairs within the required timeframe.
  • Maintains a clean, organized work station and spends a minimum of fifteen (15) minutes per day on housekeeping.
  • Completes special assignments or projects accurately and on time.
  • Completes quality control service tags when inspecting equipment. All inspected units to have tag attached.
  • Alerts customer when arriving on site to perform repair.
  • Communicates with Service Manager if equipment can’t be repaired in the field and then notifies customer of action being taken to repair or replace equipment.
  • Follows equipment repair priority list as established by Service Manager. Informs Service Manager when using stock parts for repair.

 REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Experience and training in assessment techniques including examining, questioning, evaluating and reporting on the performance of all equipment in the rental fleet.
  • Highly developed mechanical background including work with various construction or heavy machinery, specifically repairing hydraulics, electric systems, and diesel engines.
  • Extensive knowledge of construction or heavy equipment, advanced understanding of schematics and diagrams.
  • Must have own tools required to perform job.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and eager to embrace technology (cell phones, i-Pads, CRM, etc.).
  • Hungry to learn and an ability to apply new knowledge.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma, trade school certificate or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Valid medical card and/or ability to pass DOT physical exam in order to obtain medical card.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience repairing and maintaining construction or heavy equipment or vehicles as a diesel mechanic.
  • Valid driver’s license.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have the ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time with frequent bending.
  • Must be able to work inside and outside in variable weather conditions.
  • Extensive travel to and from customer job sites.
